"The Only Truth"

The only truth that life has kept,

Is death, the friend where all roads end.

Though separate paths they seem to tread,

They meet as one when journeys bend.

Between those gates of birth and rest,

We’re asked to weave what’s kind, what’s true—

To fill our hours with love and peace,

To leave a light for those who knew.

Some will hold us for a while,

Others longer, yet time will fade.

Even love, once fierce and wild,

Becomes a shadow memory made.

But still we fight for fleeting things,

For borders drawn on shifting sand,

For crowns of dust, for empty thrones,

For power slipping through our hands.

Have we forgotten why we came,

The gift of breath, the gift to build?

We tear apart the world we share,

With greed unquenched, with blood unspilled.

If we recalled the truth of death,

Perhaps our hearts would choose to live—

To open arms, to break the walls,

To heal, to nurture, and forgive.

Imagine then a world reborn,

No hate, no fear, no chains to bind,

Where souls walk free as rivers flow,

And love’s the law that rules mankind.

I wish that world had come to be,

A heaven here, beneath the sky—

But still I dream, and still I pray,

We’ll find that path before we die.
