"Echoes of Silence"
Whom do I tell
the storms running through my veins,
the silent cries that echo
in a heart too heavy for its cage?
All around me, voices rise—
they name their pain,
they scatter their sorrows like seeds in the wind,
but mine—
mine stays buried,
rooted deep in a soil no one tends.
I ache to say—
yes, I too have a heart
that shivers at night,
that pounds against the walls of its silence,
that longs for a window,
a door,
a place to spill its flood.
But where—
where do I go to open these wounds
without fear of being unseen?
Whom do I speak to
when words only fall
into the hollow of unanswered space?
Perhaps the sky—
perhaps the dark—
perhaps no one at all.
Or perhaps to the one, the only one I have—
but how do I speak
if I never wished to burden
his/her heart,
with the same weight
that bends mine?
Yet still,
my heart beats its secret language,
waiting,
aching,
for the moment when I can finally breathe
the echoes of silent screams—
and let them be heard,
not as weakness,
but as truth.
